Model FLS Floor-Mount Level Switch

Brand: Magnetrol
The Model FLS Flood Level Switch is a float operated, liquid level control designed for bracket mounting at floor level sumps or troughs.

The proven Magnetrol magnetic coupling is employed to convert float movement to actuate a single snap-action dry contact switch mechanism.

The switch is factory set for ¾" level differential for off-on control, alarm or safety shutdown service.

Technology - Float Level Switches

All float operated liquid level controls operate on the basic buoyancy principle which states "the buoyancy force action on an object is equal to the mass of liquid displaced by the object."

As a result, floats ride on the liquid surface partially submerged and move the same distance the liquid level moves.

Because of this, they are normally used for narrow level differential applications such as high level alarm or low level alarm.

Operating Principles

The buoyancy force of a process liquid on the float causes the float to move with the liquid surface.

The movement of the float moves an attraction sleeve into the field of the switch magnet, pulling the magnet toward the sleeve and actuating the switch.
Features
  • Submersible switch housing
  • All stainless steel float, bracket and trim points
  • Perforated tube protects float
  • Options:
    • Consult factory for IEEE 323-1974, IEEE 344-1975 availability
